Privacy Policy
Effective date:
- Baton has no sign-up or login, and we do not run any server that stores your baby records.
- Your baby’s name, birthday and feeding, sleep and diaper records are stored only on your devices and in your own Apple iCloud account. We cannot see them.
- If you share with your partner, only the people you invite can see that baby’s records, through iCloud sharing.
- To check your Baton Plus status, an anonymous ID and your purchase history are sent to our payment service provider, RevenueCat.
- No ads, no ad tracking, no analytics tools.
This policy explains how the developer of Baton (“we”, “us”) handles personal information when you use the Baton app (the “App”).
1. Information we handle and where it is stored
a. Baby records you enter (we have no access)
- What: baby’s name, birthday, feeding, sleep and diaper records (times, amounts, side, notes) and the name of the person who logged each record
- Where: on your device and, when iCloud is on, in your own Apple iCloud account (CloudKit)
- We never receive or view this information. Data in iCloud is held by Apple under the Apple Privacy Policy.
b. Personal settings
- What: your name (shown on records), volume unit (mL/oz), night mode setting
- Where: on your device and in iCloud key-value storage, so they come back if you reinstall or switch phones
c. Sharing with your partner or family
- A baby’s records are shared through iCloud only with people you invite.
- Participants can see each other’s name or email address/phone number as provided by Apple on the sharing screen.
- So that one purchase unlocks Baton Plus for the whole family, the purchaser’s anonymous iCloud user identifier and Plus expiration date are stored with the shared records.
- If you stop sharing or leave, that baby’s records are removed from the other person’s devices.
d. Purchases
- Payments are processed by Apple. We never receive your card or other payment details.
- To verify Baton Plus, the following is sent to RevenueCat: a random anonymous user ID created by the App, purchase history (product, purchase/renewal/expiration dates, price and currency, App Store receipt), device type and OS version, app version, last-seen time, and the IP address transmitted as part of the connection.
- This does not include your name, email address or phone number.
e. Information that stays on your device
- Summaries shown in Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets and the Lock Screen timer (never sent off the device)
- Backup files (JSON, CSV) are created only when you tap “Export Records”, and you choose where to save or send them.
f. Crash reports
If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may provide us with crash reports that do not identify you. We do not use any other analytics or advertising tools.
2. Why we use it
- To save your records, sync them across your devices and share them with your partner in real time
- To show widgets and the Lock Screen timer
- To verify purchases, manage subscription status, restore purchases and provide family Baton Plus
- To answer your questions and fix problems
For users in the EEA and UK, we process purchase information to perform our contract with you (providing Baton Plus) and support emails on the basis of our legitimate interest in responding to you.
3. How long it is kept
- Records and settings stay on your devices and in iCloud until you delete them. Deleted records are kept in “Settings > Recently Deleted” for 30 days and then permanently removed. You can delete all Baton data in iCloud from Settings > Apple Account > iCloud > Manage Storage > Baton on your iPhone. Deleting only the app leaves your records in iCloud.
- Purchase information (RevenueCat) is kept as long as needed to manage your subscription and restore purchases. We will have it deleted promptly upon request, unless the law requires us to keep it.
- Support emails are deleted within one year after your inquiry is resolved.
4. Sharing with third parties
We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties. The people you invite can see shared records because you chose to share them. We may disclose information if required by law.
5. Service providers and international transfers
